The Charter as Ultimate Authority
The foundational principles of the Denom are encoded in its Charter and By-Laws, which in principal hold ultimate authority.
The Charter and By-laws protect all currency participants from organisational malfeasance by clearly establishing operational guidelines, code-of-conduct and Black Swan Event provisions. At any time, anyone acting on behalf of the Denom can be held accountable by applying the tenets of The Charter, which can result in sanction or removal from the organisation.
The Charter and By-laws are prepared by the founding teams, reviewed by the federated cooperative of early builders, and ratified on-chain by The General Membership.
The Organisational Structure
The Denom has three main bodies: The General Membership, The Senate and The Committees. Each of these has its own set of powers and responsibilities documented in the Charter and By-Laws. The charts below provide a visual overview. Click the arrow to expand view.

Branch Relations
The General Membership
Anyone can become a member through a simple sign-up process. Once onboarded to The General Membership, an individual has full voting rights and can apply as a candidate for the Senate and join or form a Committee.
A General Member has the obligation to vote. Failure to do so will result in the temporary suspension of voting rights.
The General Membership has ultimate power over The Denom. It can petition changes, veto proposals or call for re-elections at any time and at its own discretion.
The Senate
Anyone can apply to become a Senator and take up a leadership position within the Denom.
Senators are the public officials of The Denom and carry the responsibility to harmoniously govern its functioning.
The Senate can request a budget to execute on its mandate. The functions to be executed on fall in the following categories: technical development, business development, branding and marketing, social outreach, governance integrity, treasury & budgeting, and others.
Leading regular meetings are the Speaker and Associate Speaker, who each receive a stip-end and can not vote unless in case of a tie.
Should a Senator misbehave, the Senate can issue a sanction and demote the individual.
To execute the vision set forth by the Senators, the Senate delegates work to committees through long-term commissions and short-term bounties.
The Committees
Anyone can apply to form or join a Denom committee as long as it does not coincide with a Senate position.
Committees are tasked with executing the vision set forth by The Senate.
Committees can be proposed by The Senate, or can form autonomously.
Committees can request a budget through a competitive market whereby the best proposals for execution are commissioned or receive a bounty.
